Ballot Measure - FF

On July 23, 2024, the Millbrae City Council adopted Resolution No. 24-68 to amend the submitted measure on term limits for the November 5, 2024, General Election. Voters will have the opportunity to vote on a ballot measure to change the term limit from two successive four-year terms to three successive four-year terms.

The ballot question:


Shall the City Council term limit ordinance be updated stating that no person shall be eligible to serve for more than three successive four-year terms be approved?

NOTICE OF OFFICES NOMINATION AND MEASURE TO BE VOTED ON

NOTICE IS HEREBY GIVEN that pursuant to § 10224.5 of the Elections Code of the State of California, relating to the General Municipal Election to be held in the City of Millbrae on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, the following officers are to be elected:

District 1

One (1) Member of the City Council, Full Term of four years

District 3

One (1) Member of the City Council, Full Term of four years

District 5

One (1) Member of the City Council, Full Term of four years

 
The nomination period for these offices begins on Monday, July 15, 2024 between 9:00 am and closes Friday, August 9, 2024 at 5:00 p.m. Nomination papers may be obtained and filed with the City Clerk at Millbrae City Hall, 621 Magnolia Ave, Millbrae, CA 94030.

I, Elaine Tran, Millbrae City Clerk/Elections Official, certify there are no eligible incumbents for an open office due to redistricting and the City’s current term limit ordinance. The nomination period for all candidates will end as designated above at 5:00 p.m. on Friday, August 9, 2024.

NOTICE IS FURTHER GIVEN that the following measure question will be voted upon by the qualified electors of the City of Millbrae on Tuesday, November 5, 2024 at the General Municipal Election:

Shall the City Council term limit ordinance be updated stating that no person shall be eligible to serve for more than three successive four-year terms be approved?

Primary arguments in favor of or against the above measures may be submitted in writing to the City Clerk’s Office, 621 Magnolia Ave, Millbrae for printing and distribution to the voters, pursuant to provisions of the California Elections Code, by 5:00 pm Tuesday, August 13, 2024. Rebuttal arguments by authors of said primary arguments may be filed by 5:00 pm on Friday, August 23, 2024.
