Mayor Reuben D. Holober
Reuben D. Holober was elected to the Millbrae City Council in 2013 and re-elected in 2018. After a two-year hiatus due to term limits, he was urged by community members to run again and was elected in 2024. He previously served as Mayor in 2017 and 2020. He has served on the Council's Budget, Infrastructure, Committee and Commission Interview, and Technology Subcommittees, and as liaison to the Parks and Recreation Commission, Sister Cities Commission, Community Enhancement Committee, Chamber of Commerce, and MCTV Board of Directors. Reuben has represented Millbrae regionally as Chair of the San Mateo County Library Joint Powers Authority Governing Board and on the Peninsula Traffic Congestion Relief Alliance Board, City and County Association of Governments Congestion Management and Environmental Quality Committee, and Caltrain Local Policy Makers Group.
During his tenure on the Council, Reuben was heavily involved in the rebuilding of the Recreation Center after the tragic arson fire, completing the project on-time and on-budget. He helped to develop the Station Area Specific Plan and General Plan updates and negotiated with developers for additional City funding and affordable housing. He has supported investments in public safety, infrastructure, economic development, and parks projects to ensure that Millbrae residents can enjoy a high quality of life.
Reuben grew up in Millbrae and attended local public schools, including Mills High School. He served on the Sister Cities Commission and interned for Representative Tom Lantos. Reuben earned a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Washington and a Master’s Degree in Public Policy from the University of California, Berkeley. Reuben currently works as a Budget and Legislative Analyst for the City and County of San Francisco, where he reviews the annual city budget to identify taxpayer savings, researches and analyzes policy issues, and writes reports providing recommendations to the Board of Supervisors. He lives in Millbrae with his wife, Amy, and their son, Nolan.
