Building Records Request

  1. Copies of historical permits and associated plans may be made from available records. Please submit the form and allow approximately 10 business days for a response. The response will provide additional information regarding our services. We may be able to scan the records and transmit them electronically, however in some instances a paper copy may be the only option for transmittal. If a paper copy is provided, it will be mailed to you after the full payment is received. The current cost for each 8 ½" x 11" page is $0.25.

    Please note:

    1. Not all types of property records may be available, as record procedures and legal requirements have changed over the years. Contact the San Mateo County Assessor's Office for recorded easements, property lines, taxable building areas, and further information.
    2. Official plans may not be copied except with the written permission, which permission shall not be unreasonably withheld, of the certified, licensed or registered design professional or their successor, if any, who signed the original documents and the written permission of the original or current owner of the building. (if any are on file)
    3. Plans that are not prepared by a certified, licensed or registered professional may be copied without the certified, licensed or registered design professional's written authorization. (if any are on file)
    4. Please submit a separate request for each property.
