Thank you to our community for participating in our annual Earth and Arbor Day Event held this past Saturday from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM on the Spur trail by the Skate Park. Over 100 attendees, the majority of whom were high school students, spent time in the sun keeping Millbrae clean and green.
The Parks Division staff dug holes in advance for easy planting at the event. Starting at 6:00 AM, they hauled 15 coast live oaks to Spur Trail and worked with the Earth and Arbor Day Volunteers to plant and secure each tree.
After all the trees were planted with supports in place, volunteers began the clean-up. They cleaned Magnolia Avenue, Broadway Avenue, and the Spur Trail from the Skatepark to Rotary Park. The Volunteers filled half a two-cubic-yard dumpster with their findings.
It was impressive to see so many teenagers gathering at 9:00 AM on a Saturday morning to plant trees and pick up trash. We are so proud of our youth in Millbrae who step up to help their community thrive!
