City Council Announces New City Manager Appointment
APPOINTMENT OF NEW
MILLBRAE CITY MANAGER
Millbrae, CA (12/17/08) – The Millbrae City Council at its December 16 meeting announced the appointment of Marcia L. Raines as the City’s new chief executive officer. Raines is taking over the top managerial position due to the retirement of Millbrae’s City Manager Ralph Jaeck and is expected to be on board by mid-January 2009.
Raines comes to the City with over 30 years of public sector service and currently serves as the City Manager for Half Moon Bay. Her background includes experience at both the local and county level of government and a seasoned history of overseeing municipal operations, developing strategic budget planning, and promoting a business-friendly environment.
“The City of Millbrae is fortunate to hire Marcia Raines,” said Millbrae Mayor Robert Gottschalk. “She brings strong leadership skills combined with broad experience as a City Manager in Bay Area local government. We are looking forward to her joining us and helping continue to strengthen our community and deal with critical regional issues such as economic development and high speed rail.”
Raines holds a B.S. in Urban Planning from California State Polytechnic University, Pomona.
