Peninsula Clean Energy Starts Enrollment for Millbrae Residents

This month, Peninsula Clean Energy (PCE) started sending out notices to Millbrae residents notifying them of their automatic enrollment in the program. Through this first phase, 20% of residents in Millbrae will receive details on the benefits and options available to them, and have their PCE power delivered in October of this year.

 “Millbrae residents are now going to get cleaner energy at lower prices,” said Millbrae Mayor Anne Oliva. “We are the owners of PCE. For every dollar we spend on PCE power, PCE reinvests that money back into energy sources and competitive pricing that only benefits us.”

 Millbrae residents who receive notices will be automatically enrolled in the PCE’s ECOplus program, which is cleaner (50% renewable and 75% greenhouse gas free) and offers lower rates than electricity currently supplied by PG&E. Customers will also have the option to buy up to 100% of their energy from renewable sources.

 “PCE is the right choice for Millbrae. This is why we decided to opt-up to 100% renewable energy for all City facilities,” said Mayor Oliva. “We joined the PCE because we wanted to give Millbrae residents cleaner and cheaper energy options that support our economy and environment.”

 As a joint power organization, residents and businesses in every city throughout San Mateo County will start receiving power from the PCE this year, with a full rollout in April 2017. PCE will use PG&E’s infrastructure to deliver power to homes and businesses throughout the county. Customers will continue to receive billing by PG&E.
