City Council to discuss joining the Home Energy Renovation Opportunity Program at tonight's Council meeting
The Millbrae City Council will meet this evening and adopt a resolution to implement the California Home Energy Renovation Opportunity (HERO) program. HERO offers property owners a chance to finance renewable energy as well as water and energy efficiency programs. This is part of California’s Property-Assessed Clean Energy (PACE) plan. California FIRSTPACE, first adopted in the city of Millbrae in 2010, is one of many PACE programs currently available in the marketplace but the only city-authorized program. HERO will provide property owners with a second option in financing energy efficiency improvements and join 341 other California cities in its use.
Programs such as PACE & HERO offer residents an opportunity to spread out the cost of energy and water efficiency improvements over time. The City benefits by reducing its greenhouse gas emissions and meeting sustainability goals and property owners benefit with increased property values and lower utility fees.
