City Council Meeting Recap for January 8, 2019
On Tuesday, January 8th, the Millbrae City Council hosted its first meeting of the month.
Before the meeting, the City Council hosted a special study session meeting to review the design renderings for the Gateway at Millbrae Station Project (TOD #2). The agenda and handouts for that meeting can be found at https://www.ci.millbrae.ca.us/Home/Components/Calendar/Event/7998/48.
Following the Pledge of Allegiance, the Millbrae City Council received an update on the Bay Area Water Supply and Conservation Agency (BAWSCA), and a presentation from the San Mateo County Mosquito and Vector Control District. Residents who have trouble with mosquitoes, wasps and rodents can report the issue by calling (650) 344-8592.
By a 5-0 vote, the City Council unanimously approved the following consent items:
Item 6 - Resolution Accepting the 2017 Sewer Modernization Program, Madrone Sub-basin 3, Sanitary Sewer Capital Improvement Project as Complete and Filing of Notice of Completion;
Item 7 - Resolution Accepting the 2018 Sanitary Sewer Mains Cleaning and Inspection as Complete and Filing of Notice of Completion;
Item 8 - Resolution Accepting the 2017 Sanitary Sewer at Various Locations Project as Complete and Filing of Notice of Completion.
Items 5 and 9 were removed from consent for discussion.
Item 5 - Adopt Resolution Awarding a Contract to Century Carpet in the Amount of $86,800 for the Replacement of Existing Carpet at Millbrae City Hall, Establishing a Project Contingency Fund of $13,000, and Authorizing the City Manager, or his Designee, to Execute the Contract and All Contract Change Orders Up to the Project Contingency Fund – was approved unanimously.
Item 9 - Adopt a Resolution Declaring a Shelter Crisis Required for Participation in the Homeless Emergency Aid Program (HEAP) and Grant Funding Eligibility Required by SB 850 – was approved unanimously.
Regarding Item 10 – City Council Review of a Planning Commission Decision to Approve the Design Review and Conditional Use Permit to Allow the Demolition and New Construction of a Service Station and Convenience Store with New Signage on Property Zoned Transit-Oriented Development (“TOD”) within the Millbrae Station Area Specific Plan (“MSASP”) at 320 East Millbrae Avenue – Chevron will look into the suggestions made by the City Council. Item 10 passed unanimously.
The City Council held discussions for appointments to the City Council Sub-Committees for 2019 (Item 11), and received an informational report on the Richmond Drive median replanting by PG&E (Item 12).
