Public Safety Announcement: Lock Your Car Doors and Keep Valuables Out of Sight

Post Date:07/19/2018 3:20 PM

This past week, there has been an increase in automobile burglaries along the US 101 and US 280 corridors. Some of these incidents have been from thieves who will walk by a vehicle, lift up the door handle to see if it’s open, and take what ever valuables they can easily get their hands on.

The San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office is aware and actively patrolling the City to deter this type of activity. We want to remind you to lock your vehicle when you are away from it, and check your door handle to ensure it’s locked. In addition, keep valuables such as phones and purses out of sight by placing them in your glove box, center compartment, or trunk. These small steps can help keep your property safe and where it belongs.

As always, if you see suspicious activity, please call 9-1-1 to report the incident. If you have any questions about this or other crime prevention measures, please contact the Millbrae Police Bureau at (650) 259-2300.
