Its In Our Hands!
Census Day is April 1, 2010 so mark your calendar and tell your family, friends, and co-workers.
The Census is the method the United States Government uses to count every resident in the country. About 400 billion dollars is then allocated each year based upon this count. Because this count only occurs every ten years, there is a lot at stake for a long time. If Millbrae is under-counted, the City will receive less money to use for roads, parks, and other services.
The Census 2010 message is simple: It's Easy. It's Safe. It's Important!
It's Easy: Being counted is easy because the questionnaire is mailed to every home and residents will have the choice of English, Spanish or several Asian language forms. It takes only 10 minutes to complete. Please fill out one questionnaire for your household and send it back in the postage-paid envelope.
It's Safe: Being counted is safe because all personal information provided on the census form is confidential and, by law, cannot be shared with any other government agency.
It's Important: Being counted is important because all residents, from children to seniors, regardless of citizenship or immigration status, are important to a good census. When people are not counted, our community loses funding for important services and programs; in these tough economic times, we cannot afford that.
Please help work toward a complete count in 2010 by taking the time to fill out your Census Questionnaire. The questionnaires will arrive in your mailbox in March. Make yourself count 2010!
