Maurice Goodman comes to the City of Millbrae with a wealth of knowledge and experience. Most recently, serving as a member of the San Mateo County Community College Board of Trustees after being elected in November 2015, serving as Board President in 2019. Trustee Goodman became the first African American and person of color to serve on the Board in the 100-year history of the district. His relationships throughout the county, region and state will prove to be beneficial to our council team and enhance our opportunity to build stronger, more meaningful coalitions to move Millbrae forward.
Maurice is a father, husband and had worked as a legal paraprofessional for nearly a decade prior to turning to a career in educational leadership and youth development in 2010. After completing degrees in Administration of Justice and Paralegal Studies at Skyline College, Councilman Goodman went on to California State University, East Bay and received a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice.
Working as an educator, he was elected to two terms of office on the South San Francisco Unified School District Board of Trustees and served as President twice. Councilman Goodman's volunteer experience includes Serving as a member of the Board of Directors of the Bay Area Red Cross, South San Francisco Host Lions Club, North San Mateo County Boys & Girls Club, the San Mateo NAACP, Design Tech High School and Executive Director of Operation Genesis. He is a passionate advocate for all Millbrae residents, with a compassionate focus on the un-housed, historically underserved, small businesses and the prosperity and safety of all visitors and residents of our community.
