Planning Division
The Planning Division's primary role is the review of development projects for compliance with the Millbrae General Plan, Millbrae Station Area Specific Plan, Zoning Ordinance, design guidelines, and related policies and procedures. In addition, the Division takes the lead in state-mandated environmental review on all development applications.
Planning Division staff is the liaison between applicants and other City departments and divisions and provides technical assistance and guidance to the Millbrae Planning Commission. Division staff also reviews sign applications, Home Occupation Permits, Business Licenses, building permits, conducts site inspections, undertakes special projects and studies, and responds to a wide range of planning and development-related inquiries.
The Planning Division completes a preliminary review of all planning applications for application completeness electronically before an application will be accepted by the City. Please submit all application forms, documents, plans, and any other required items to a City planner for screening prior to submittal. Typically, the submittal is made via Dropbox or email. City staff will verify that all submittal requirements have been provided. After staff verifies that all application requirements have been submitted, the planner will contact the applicant with instructions on how to pay the required fees and directions for delivery of hardcopy materials.
