Peninsula Chinese Business Association

Post Date:08/31/2017 1:14 PM

For almost a decade, the Peninsula Chinese Business Association (PCBA) has strengthened and supported the Bay Area Peninsula community through the creation of opportunities and connections. A group of around twenty small business owners founded the group in the City of Millbrae in 2009. Today, the organization numbers closer to 200 members.

PCBA’s mission is to work together to raise funds while having fun and helping the community. The group supports local schools, educational programs, and charitable organizations through fundraisers and annual events.

Most recently, PCBA established the “Encouragement Scholarship”: rather than focusing on academic achievement, the scholarship fund is meant to encourage students to participate more fully in their communities. The group raised nearly $200,000 for the scholarship and distributed the amount to various organizations and schools throughout the Peninsula, many in the Millbrae area, including Spring Valley Elementary, Meadow Elementary, Taylor Middle School, and Mills High School.

The organization is made up entirely of dedicated volunteers. Backed by steady growth over the years, PCBA plans to spread its influence and community involvement to more cities in the Bay Area, including San Bruno, Daly City, and South San Francisco.

PCBA participates in numerous community activities during the year, such as the Millbrae Art and Wine Festival, which takes place this weekend, September 2nd and 3rd, along Broadway. PCBA also hosts a number of their own events each quarter to raise money and strengthen family and community ties, from smaller karaoke events to an Annual Chinese New Year Dinner and a Spring Festival Banquet. The organization’s biggest event is the Millbrae Lunar New Year Festival, which they have hosted for the past seven years.

Individuals who are passionate and interested in giving back to their communities are welcomed to join PCBA. To contact the organization and to learn more about their goals, please visit
