12th Annual Japanese Culture Festival - Sunday, October 1
Join the City of Millbrae at the 12th Annual Japanese Culture Festival on Sunday, October 1, 2017! The festival is free and open to the public.
Enjoy live stage performances from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., as well as numerous cultural exhibits, such as a tea ceremony, kimono dressing, bonsai, calligraphy, and ikebana. There will be booths selling Japanese foods, beer, and sake. Additionally, vendors will be selling Japan-related items throughout the festival.
Numerous community groups will be in attendance, including the Community Emergency Response Team (CERT), San Mateo County Sheriff’s Office, San Mateo County History Museum and Japanese American Citizens League, the FBI Citizens Academy, and many more. The Consulate General of Japan in San Francisco will also be represented; the Consul General himself will be making an appearance!
The festival will be held in Millbrae’s Library Plaza and the Library Parking Lot. Exhibits and activities will additionally take place inside the Chetcuti Room and within some library rooms.
Led by the Millbrae Japanese Culture Festival Committee, the event is produced and supported primarily through volunteer work. The festival will be sponsored by the City of Millbrae, Millbrae Chamber of Commerce, South San Francisco Scavenger, Union Bank, Hanson Bridgett, Peninsula Health District, Arima Dental Care, and Tokyo Express Co, Inc. Additional media sponsors include MCTV, BaySpo, JWeekly, and Vivid Navigation Inc.
